The AWANA program is conducted on Wednesday nights from September to May from 6:45 - 8:15 PM.
Children from kindergarten up through the 6th grade are welcome to participate.
Students in 7th to 12th grade meet during this time as well, but their program
is not associated with Awana.
The name AWANA is an acrostic for: Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed.
This comes from 2 Timothy 2:15 in the Bible.
"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."
The goal of Awana is to reach boys and girls with the gospel of Jesus Christ
and train them to serve Him so that they can be 'approved unto God'.
This is done through memorizing Bible verses, completing Bible studies, and
participating in Bible lessons.
Doors open at 6:30. The club night begins at 6:45 p.m. and ends at 8:15 p.m.
After a brief opening, the clubbers are dismissed to join their individual clubs.
During this time, the clubbers have game time, handbook time, and counsel time.
The evening ends with a brief awards ceremony and some announcements.
The following is a description of the four groups into which the children are placed:

Sparks - These boys and girls are in Kindergarten
through 2nd grade.

Truth and Training - Consists of children in
grades 3 through 6
Some of the fun activities the clubbers participate in have included theme nights
such as Crazy Hair Night, Blackout Night, Topsy-Turvy Night, and Affliction Night.
Other activities include a Fun Fair, Grand Prix, Bible quizzing, and AWANA Games.
Clubbers receive awards for being on time, winning games, memorizing verses,
bringing visitors, and completing sections of their handbooks.
